Our Mini-block Sampler provides a 150 mm diameter by 300 mm high undisturbed block soil sample. It is designed for soft clays and loose clayey sands/silts. It has been successfully used on a tailings dam, sampling very weak material.

The Mini-block Sampler is designed and built by the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI). It is essentially a smaller version of the Sherbrooke Block Sampler (1979).

If you need high quality undisturbed soil samples, the Mini-block Sampler is one of the lowest disturbance methods available.

We carefully pack the block samples to maintain their insitu moisture content and absorb transport vibration. We can provide freight loggers that record shock, temperature, humidity and orientation during transport. We can also provide recommendations on the best way to transport the block sample to the testing laboratory to minimise possible disturbance.
